Filsham Lodge was a 10 bedded family run dementia residential home in the late 1980s.
The current owners bought the home in November 2004 and became a registered nursing home in July 2011.
The home has been extended and is now a 53 bedded home.
All communal areas of the Home have now been refurbished with new decor, chairs and flooring.
Our team is managed by May Crousse.
May has been a carer and in the care sector for over 10 years. Having finished her degree in Psychology, she was recruited by the owners to Ampersand House in Rochester, Kent. Within two months she had turned the place around in time for the CQC report and took the home from "Requires Improvement" to "Good".
May then moved to Lucerne House, a learning disability home in Bexhill, East Sussex. At the time a ban on admissions had been put into place. After much time and dedication she not only managed to remove the ban, but took the home to "Good" again on the CQC report which made the local papers.
May started at Filsham Lodge in August 2017 and loves working with the residents here. She prefers a hands-on role where possible. With the recent renovations carried out, she is busy making sure everyone in the home has the best care available and that staff are fully supported.
Nursing Care is understanding and meeting the needs of the individual when they arrive in our care.
Filsham Lodge provides 24/7 care with our highly qualified nurses and carers. We consistently maintain excellent relationships with the residents' and local GPs, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and more.
Fast and efficient medical treatment is delivered and monitored in our home.
We have our own osteopath working to keep up our residents' range of mobility, also helping rehabilitate any post operative and stroke related musculoskeletal issues.
End of Life Care is the specialist care that is given to someone when they are nearing death. It is so important that they are able to do so in comfort, with dignity and with as minimal pain as possible.
Filsham Lodge staff are trained in the use of specialist equipment to enable our residents a peaceful passing, without anxiety or pain.
They are also trained through the local hospice to understand and help our residents and their family in their difficult time. A room is available for families to stay with their loved one when the time is near.
We welcome family's presence day and night, with no restriction on visitation.
We have our in-house cuddle therapist, Poppy, who works Monday to Friday. She loves being with our residents and is paid in treats.
Our in-house hair salon allows many of our residents to have their hair professionally done each Friday.
Our in-house osteopath is a free service we provide to help with any musculoskeletal rehabilitation issues, and to keep the joints moving in those who may be less mobile or bed bound.
We also have a brand new sensory room available. Aromatherapy, sensory lights, canvases, and more reminiscence items to help keep our residents stimulated.
Visitors of residents are more than welcome to join their family members here and enjoy what our room provides.
